Smoke Alarms

WORKING SMOKE ALARMS SAVE LIFES!

It's simple, have your alarms installed and up to date with the lastest QLD regulations. Visit the link below to find out more from the QFD website in regards to locations and compliance.

We can Install & service your alarms and give you peace of mind that your family is safe.

If you hear your alarm chirping once every few minutes, usually this means it's a battery issue. Try replacing the battery then see if that fixes it.

If the alarm/s are continuously going off, ensure there isn't a fire. If you are positive there is no threat of fire  you can disarm the alarm by pressing the push button, usually located on the side to drop it down. Some may have a slot to push a small flat srcrew driver in, then push away to slide off.

Once down it may just require a clean. Do this my using  the vacuum cleaner to suck any insects or dust out of the chamber. Ensure the alarm is still in date before putting back up. if that doesn't fix it , call us to come have a look and we will advise what to do.

Safety Switches

Safety Switches (RCD's) are a must on all final sub circuits which includes your general socket outlets, lights, ovens etc.

Occasionaly these may trip resulting in power loss to that particular circuit/s. Usually this is a result of a faulty appliance, water ingress, vermon or the age of the RCD.

A helpful hint when you experience power loss on your power circuit is to physically unplug all affected appliances from the outlets and then try reset the RCD. If it still won't reset contact us and we can talk you through it or come out to investigate further!

Hot Water Systems

Experiencing Hot water issues? You may have 1 of many problems. It can either be a plumbing or Electrical fault. Depending on the age and condition of the system sometimes it may not be worth repairing. A telltale sign of this is if you notice a water leak or water marks on the outside of the unit, usually below the bottom housing cover.

Other issues may be a blown element, thermostat or Switchboard problem.

Contact us to inspect & we can organise everything from repair to replacement.

Solar Hot Water Booster Switches

Solar Hot Water Booster switches are commonly found in the laundry, hallways, bathrooms or back of cupoboards. Generally it will have a Red indicator light next to it to let you know it is on.

A common misconseption with these swtches is that people think they are used as a backup for when you run out of hot water which of course is true. However did you know that during times of cloudy days your system may not be heating the water to temperature & sometimes you may forget to turn it on or be away. It is recommended that the Booster switches always remain on to maintain the tank temperature at a minimum of 60 degrees. If you are going away for prolonged periods of time, you may turn ther switch off to save energy, however it must heat the water for atleast 30mins prior to using the water when home.

This is to prevent the potential for Legionella Disease. The system is fitted with a thermostat which will govern when the power is required to be switched on to heat heat the water. It will work alongside the solar to heat effieciently.

You can find out more on legionella disease at the Qld Governments website by clicking the button below.
